ACHIEVEMENTS
Successful replacement of the new hydraulic systems was achieved avoiding any disruption to the building’s occupants. The new equipment installed will provided a much improved reliable service, extend the serviceable life cycle of these lifts and compliance with the current lift standards.
Our Vertical Transportation projects team undertook a complex refurbishment of three hydraulic passenger lifts within this fully occupied multi-let commercial office building, to provide a more reliable service and extend their serviceable life. Close strategic planning with the client and specialist contractors to ensure minimal disruption to the tenants during the removal and installation of new hydraulic equipment to the central scenic life was required.
The project comprised our VT Project Team undertaking the production of a Technical Performance Specification, a JCT Design and Build contract, competitive tendering of the Works, full Tender Analysis of submissions, recommendation for Contractor award and full Project Management of the works including all final snagging and witnessing of the works.
The central atrium lift provided additional challenges due to the location of its machine room, directly above a glass atrium, with the erection of a bespoke access tower and suspension points, works undertaken over the weekend, avoided any disruption to the day to day operation of the building. The new replacement equipment was integrated with the buildings fire alarm system, synchronising the grounding of the lifts in the event of a fire. The performance of the new system was witnessed and validated by Focus FM.
